Just a quick note to keep in touch. The album is in the final stages, for real. All recording has been done, a few tweaks to the mix and then I’ll send off for mastering. Otherwise I am undergoing physical therapy for the recurrent tendinitis I have been struggling with. As such I have been laying off guitar but playing some piano.I hope everyone had a happy 4th. I’ll post again soon.

Hey folks, just a quick note. I’m prepping for Thursday’s gig at the Starbucks in Gold River. I have also been fighting a cold for the last 10 days. Fortunately I’m on the mend and should be in good vocal shape for the show. The CD is close to completion. Tracks are all down and Kyle and I are in the mixing stage now. Look for a release in the next couple months. Additionally, Laura and I are scheduled to close escrow on our house on May 5th, after which construction will begin on the studio/lounge remodel. That’s all I have for now. If you are seeing this on Facebook and you haven’t joined my mailing list here, please do so and receive a free download of “In the Dark of the City.” Have a great week! Steve

I am finally in the studio recording a new CD. This is not my aforementioned studio that will be under construction shortly. That will be primarily for teaching and messing around recording my own demos. I don’t have the equipment or the skills to do really nice recordings.  Kyle Murphy of 40HZ at Elev8ted Studios elev8tedstudios.com in Sacramento is doing the job. Kyle is great, definitely knows his stuff. We laid down tracks for three songs last Saturday and will be doing more this coming Saturday.

I am still having some issues with my left elbow so I am fairly limited in how much guitar I can play at one time. It sucks, but at least the problem seems to have stabilized. I had been trying different strings, even going to silk-wound in order to alleviate the problem. Silks felt good but didn’t sound as good. Extra-light Elixir’s seem to be the best compromise. Fortunately, it’s not as much of an issue when I am playing piano so those songs should go faster.

I will have about 16 songs on this album when all is said and done. I have enough for two CDs at the moment, but I’m hoarding some for a future project. I have just been writing like crazy these last two years. It’s pretty cool. I definitely can’t wait to share them with you all.

Laying down my first track.
